As the end of the year draws closer and Christmas creeps up on us, thoughts of office parties, staff outings and team building events arise. If the thought of planning another host of events leaves you feeling less than inspired, then read on because here at Piranha, we've got something extra special up our sleeves for you this year.
As specialists in supplying home and office furniture, we understand the importance of teamwork, boosting staff morale and at this time of year, keeping spirits high. That’s why we think this year, instead of the usual Secret Santa and office party drinks, we propose having a Christmas Treasure Hunt.
So, how do we go about organising something as crazy as a Christmas scavenger hunt? You can either go the easy route and organise it along the lines of an Easter Egg hunt - hiding chocolates or candy canes around the workplace, and, however, many are collected equate to prizes. You can go all out and leave clues about the office for staff to figure out in order to collect candy canes. Think about dividing your workforce up into teams and the winners are the fastest to solve the clues!
Where to Start
Once you have decided on the style of your scavenger hunt, think about where to hide clues! As a start, we suggest some fairly easy to find locations, followed by some a little more difficult. Locations could include the kitchen, staff room, stationary cupboard, mailbox, reception, car park, festive decorations or stockings, plant pots, cleaning cupboard, under stairs, chairs and taped inside drawers, under mice or even behind monitors.
You can either search for generic clues or come up with some of your own to make your treasure hunt more unique and special. Rhyming clues are especially helpful – for example: “Snow and wind make it cold outside, your wear this to keep warm, but take it off inside!” would be a clue directing your staff towards the cloakroom or coat rack.
However you go about your Christmas treasure hunt, remember to make it fun. It’s certainly one of the more fun team building exercises out there and will raise spirits in the build up to the end of the year.
